What Causes Foamy Urine?
Question: So I've posted on here before asking about foamy urine. I often had bubbly urine and became very alarmed over it. It was recommended that I get it checked and while I was unable to get in to see my doctor until the end of the month, I did go to urgent care. They did a dip stick test and the Doctor informed me there was no protein and there was no blood and claimed "it looked good". I was however drinking a lot of water that day and noticed my urine was more pale in color, diluted and not bubbly that day. I was wondering if it is possible for my urine protein dip stick test to have been effected by my large water in take that day?. I have noticed, today for example I have had bubbly urine and am extremely concerned. Could that test have been incorrect? And to ass one thing, last October I had a complete physical including blood work and urine and kidney function which all came back good.

The presence of bubbles in urine is not always a sign of an underlying diseases. It could be a normal variant due to rapid urination.
Here are the some harmless condition which may cause bubbles in urine.
(1)- Rapid urination
I think it is the most common cause of bubbly urine, especially in kids.
(2)- Dehydration.
Mild dehydration can result in bubbles in urine. This occurs because mild dehydration causes the urine to concentrate and highly concentrated urine tends to bubble.
(3)-pregnancy and menstruation.
(4)- There are certain toilet bowl cleansers which when come in contact with urine can cause bubbles and may get mistaken for bubbly urine.
There are some abnormal cause for foamy urine, which are very unlikely in your case because your blood and urine work up are perfectly fine.
(1)- Proteinuria – Proteinuria is a fairly common cause of urinary bubbles. Urine dip stick is not an accurate test. You can go for 24 hour urine protein assessment for a better evaluation.
(2)-UTI(urinary tract infection) and diabetes are the other common cause for foamy urine. But the chances are on a lower side because you just had complete physical checkup.
(3)-Vesicocolic Fistula- Is a rare cause and a urology consultation is needed in that case.
I'm of the opinion that the bubbles in your urine could be a normal thing and nothing to worry in it.
