What Causes Frequent Leg Cramps In A Hypertensive Person?
1. High Blood Pressure for many years. Nephediprine ER 60 1XDaily and Labeterol 300 1.5 x 2 Daily. BP normally 140s/low 70s with slow pulse (55 or so).
2. BiFemerol ByPass in 1995 has essentially become blocked again and I have poor circulation but still a pulse I can feel in my feet.
3. Renal Failure but not yet on dialysis (though Dr recommends doing catheter prep).
4. Fairly frequent leg cramps, mostly in calves, helped when I adjust my electrolytes.
Because of the leg cramps, often I may use a heat pad held for sometime between my legs. Could it be that heat pad (veins on both thighs are visible) and if so, why have I not noticed over these many months of cramping?
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
As per details, the most likely possibility for your symptoms is Erythema ab igne. As you mentioned, you have been using heat pad over the area, it is the reason for this. The continuous or repeated heating over the area results in formation of prominent dilated blood veseels visible over skin as network of vessels. It may be caused by heat pad, heater, laptop etc.
The pigmentation usually resolves spontaneously over time. In some, it may be require application of mild steroid like flucinolone acetonide.
You may kindly upload images so that I can actually visualize it once and advise you accordingly.
Take care.
