What Causes Frequent Menstruation And Physical Stress?
Question: Dear Sir,
My wife, Sajeena - aged 31 had severe multiple periods within in a frequency of 15-20 days. She had physical stress during these days due to household work. We consulted a Gynec, who prescribed for 'Trenaxa MF' (Tranexamic Acid & Mefenamic acid tablet) and suggested to take this during the starting of her period henceforth. We asked if this tablet shall substitute as contraceptive - and she told 'Yes'. Would request your advise, if this pill can be taken as a contraceptive and side effects associated with this. Also advise on the dosage and timings of taking this pill.
Thanks, XXXX.

Brief Answer:
tranexa MF is not a contraceptive.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXX,
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns for your wife.
Tranexa-MF is not a contraceptive.
It is used to to control excessive bleeding only.
The common side effects are nausea, vomiting, gastritis and dizziness.
The dose is usually 2-4 tablets in a day depending on severity of bleeding. But it has to be taken as directed by your doctor under his supervision.
It can be taken after meals in two or three divided doses.
Also, your wife should drink lots of water and eat green vegetables and fruits.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.
I wish good health for your wife.
Take care.
Thanks.
