Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are complaining of having to get up frequently at night to urinate. This is a very common occurrence for men as well all get older. It is caused from the prostate getting enlarged and not allowing the bladder to completely emptying. This makes your bladder fell more frequently and cause night time wakening. This can be treated several ways. The natural way is to not drink anything after 6pm or at least limit your drinking of fluids before going to bed and completely emptying your bladder before going to bed. If that does not work there are several medications available that will help. The first is a medication called an alpha blocker. This medication relaxes the sphincter muscle for bladder control and allow for better emptying. The medications are flomax or tamsulosin. ANother class of medication is directed at trying to reduce the size of the prostate and it is called proscar or finasteride.

In summary
1. reduce fluids before going to bed
2. completely empty bladder before sleep
3. alpha blockers tamsulosin
4. Prostate medication finasteride.
