Posted on Fri, 4 Jul 2014
Question: hi, i had a gap between top right molar 1&2. one day food particle got struck and i had irritation followed by bleeding for few days. i went to a dentist. she filled the gap but it did not work. i went to another dentist little later. he found that the decay was deep and has done root canal and will fit crown by next week. meanwhile there is similar gap on left side but no pain or bleeding for now. do i need to put a cap on this tooth as well. is there any other treatment for this. as there is no problem as of now, do i need to put the cap right now. is there any preventive treatment?

Brief Answer:
If decay is not deep go for direct capping

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

First of all you need to go for x-ray of that teeth. If decay is deep go for root canal treatment followed by capping. If cavity is not deep you may go for direct capping.
In proximal cavity filling is not durable so better to go for capping.
Maintain proper oral hygiene to prevent other teeth from decay.

Hope I answered your query
