What Causes Gel Like Viscosity Of Seminal Fluid?
It could be due to some underlying cause.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Hi
I can understand your concern.
Normal seminal fluid volume is 3 to 5 cubic centimeters (cc), it can range from 0.8 to 7.6 cc.
Little seminal fluid can be caused by
1. Low levels of testosterone can lead to decreased seminal fluid
2. Obstruction in the ejaculatory duct or seminal vesicles, scar tissue or surgery on the prostate, bladder, or urethra can also result in reduced volume of semen.
If there is more than 2 cc of fluid, however, low semen volume is probably not the result of an obstruction.
3. Retrograde ejaculation. This occurs when semen goes backwards into the bladder rather than forward out of the penis, resulting in less semen being released during ejaculation.
4. Drugs. Certain antibiotics or antidepressants, such as lithium, can reduce semen volume. Marijuana use has also been associated with little seminal fluid.
I, therefore advise you to consult a doctor/urologist for proper evaluation, you may need certain lab tests such as semen analysis, ultrasound scan or hormonal studies to identify the cause and to treat accordingly.
Hope the suggestions given above could be useful to you.
