What Causes Gritty Feeling Under The Tongue?

I've had an uncomfortable journey because I've been feeling like grains of sand at the edge of my tongue for a long time. I don't feel any pain , I just feel the discomfort of the grains that don't go away. I don't Know what it is, Sometimes I think that they are dead taste buds , but Im not sure. It is very uncomfortable and I don't know what is causing this.
Please give details and post actual photographs.

Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Noted the history about a 22 years old male feeling like grains of sand at the edge of tongue for a long time - no pain - only discomfort of the grains - thinks of dead taste buds - wants to know further.
Please give additional information for me to assist you better:
- Post clear and focused photographs as they help sometimes for on-the-spot diagnosis and easy for advising.
- Do you have any abdominal problems/ loose stools?
- Any other intra-oral problems?
- Is your taste sensation normal or altered over this time?
- Please give exact time frame as to when did this start and how did it progress.
- Are you trying to scrape or brush it off?
- Do you remember any particular odd food, fruit or juices taken before this appeared?
- Any other information that you would like to share...
Please give all the details.

Thank you for your fast answer. I don't feel any abdominal problems. Some times I feel a lump in the throat that doesn't go away with repeated swallowing, but this is not all the time. Other times I feel that my tongue gets rough when it is dry, but I feel the grains in the edge of my tongue all the time. My taste sensation is normal and I have been feeling this for more than a year. I haven't tried to scrape it. I feel those grains of sand when I touch the inner lower lip. In the pictures I made a circle in the area where I feel those grains.

This is benign problem, not much to worry about.
Detailed Answer:
Thank for your feedback and the clear pictures.
These changes are akin to keratosis.
Why does it occur is not known, this is benign and does not need any active treatment.
On empirical basis you may please take multivitamins available at Pharmacy nearby.
Do not worry.
You may please take a second opinion of any ENT Surgeon or Oral Surgeon as he can actually feel it and also see any such changes at the back of tongue and/or in throat. And advise accordingly.
Please get Vitamin A and D estimates and if deficient take therapeutic dosages.

Thank you for the answer. I want to know which kind of vitamin D do I need to take? . I went to the pharmacy and I just found viatamin D-3 and I want to make sure that this is the right vitamin.

Please get Blood test for Vitamin D first.
Detailed Answer:
Please get the blood test for Vitamin D to know whether it is deficient or insufficient to decide the dosage to be taken.
Please tell me the strength available at Pharmacy whether 1000 or 60000.
If the estimates for Vitamin D is normal you may have to take multivitamins only.
