What Causes Headache After Facial Trauma?
Question: I have a headache, the same headache i had when i had facial trauma last May resulting in a retinal tear heamorhhage and vitreous heamorrhage . The trauma was blunt severe non penetrating to the supra orbital area 3 cm along the ridge. This time the headache was triggered when i banged my head on the top .The headache is severe if i lift anything and this triggers severe nausea with lifting. i had numbness and headache 2-3 weeks after the initial injury above my ear on the same side as the injury. At times I feel dizzy and also have nausea triggered by looking up and out and in and down since I hurt my head this time. i had laser retinoplexy and developed a bradycardia due to eye drops a few days after the injury. I had a minor attack like this before christmas when some one tapped my head on the the left side . i have not like getting my hair done after this injury or let anyone touch or feel my scalp on the left . I am tender over my left supra orbital ridge and 3 cm below this . i also have pain 3 cm above my ear. My doctor has started amitryptiline and this has helped at night. i have had no scan or xrays.
I have had intense brain freeze after the injury and also this has reoccurred. Please advise what to do next ? I really want my life back to normal
Brief Answer:
Headache after trauma
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
I am sorry for the symptoms you are having.
Anyway the most difficult part has gone. Now it is time to heal so you have to be patient.
You need to do an brain exam, RM is ideal or at least a CT!Anyway you don't have reason to worry because after 10 months and the only complain is headache the possible diagnose is headache after trauma which is absolutely curable and amytriptiline is a good choice.
So my advice is to undertake a brain RM and be patient, you will be fine.
Wish you all best

Perhaps you help explain these symptoms
Brief Answer:
Post trauma
Detailed Answer:
Dear
I know you are concerned and you have reason for that but you have to understand that the worse has passed.
Things will start to improve now.
Those symptoms are objective vertigo, post trauma, nothing to worry.
Perhaps start using betahistine will improve your status.
Those brain freezing are expected after brain injury and that's the reason why a brain CT or MR need to be done!
Perhaps piracetam can be useful for some days.
The first step is to consult your neurologist and undertake a brain examination and discuss about my opinion for medication.
Dear you have nothing to worry thing's will start to improve but you have to be patient, improvement is slowly but will come.
Wish you all the best,
