What Causes Headache And Ear Pain After Tooth Extraction?

default
Posted on Thu, 8 Sep 2016
Question: I got all 4 wisdom teeth out on August 8th, and alot of the pain has gone away. Except i have been getting an earache in my left ear, and a constant headache on the left side of my head (temple area).
All 4 wisdom teeth were impacted. Also, a week before getting my wisdom teeth out, I started taking birth control (Cryselle) which could be the reasoning behind the headaches. Advil helps with the pain, but I'm just sick of always having an earache/headache. Should I call my oral surgeon and see if my wisdom teeth is causing the ear/headache?

Brief Answer:
Might be due to some root stump of lower left wisdom molar

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

Extraction of impacted wisdom teeth is a complicated surgical procedure and there are chances of remaining root stump.
Moreover, if there is any root stump or infection in lower jaw then pain refers to ear. Therefore, you need to consult your oral surgeon and get an IOPAR done of that region. If there is remaining root stump or infected then get it will appear on that small Xray and get it removed from your surgeon.
Otherwise you need to consult ENT specialist for the same. There is no direct relationship between those medicines and earache or headache. Still consult your physician for the same.
