What Causes Heart Burn Post A Open Heart Surgery?
see your cardiologist
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
It is great that you have been doing well since your surgery, but whenever you have any sort of chest pain after a heart surgery you need to check with your cardiologist to see if they want to do any additional testing.
They need to make sure that this is not coming from your heart or chest wall scar.
If it is indeed heartburn (gastroesophageal reflux) here are some things that you could try:
a medication like prilosec take 30 minutes before the largest meal of the day
avoid all alcohol and tobacco
eat smaller meals
do not lie down after eating
avoid high fat meals
avoid mints
do not eat within 3 hours of going to bed
if it is severe at night try propping up the head of the bed about 3-6 inches
I hope this problem is resolved very soon.
