What Causes Heavy Bleeding From A Small Cut?
Question: I was putting in green fence posts with tennis shoes last Wed. nite, & the point on the post went thru my shoe bottom & deeply into my instep. It took a couple of minutes to get it to mostly stop bleeding - except for my trek into the house. It didn't bleed like a normal cut, flowed pretty good. I put Hydrogen peroxide on it, Neosporin & bandaid. The next few days it was really swelled & I couldn't touch an area of about 3" across. It was a pretty solid lump, & I wondered if a lot of it was blood pooling in it as well as the swelling from the cut. I've had blood clots after surgery 2 different times, so now I'm wondering if this could be a problem now, as I'm now having a cough, light headedness, & out of breath with doing even walking a bit. These were symptoms I had the last time when I had blood clots in all quadrants of both lungs.
Brief Answer:
CT scan of chest with contrast
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have gone through your history and picture you have uploaded
Since you are having history of blood clot and symptoms of cough and out of breath while walking i would advise you to do a CT scan of chest with contrast to rule out any clots in your lungs

Would the blood gas wrist vein area test be the first step before the CT?
Brief Answer:
D dimer test
Detailed Answer:
Hi
A blood test will be done from your wrist vein to see the presence of D Dimer before the CT scan is done
Presence of high levels of it in your blood will suggest blood clots in your lungs
