What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding While On Synthroid?
Question: I am waiting for the answer. My question was I am having my cycle for two week now after three months. The first week was light however in the past four days it bleeding heavy that I feel like I need some moor blood. I am currently taking synth droid 50 mcg 1/ day. Does it have anything to do with the medicine that I am taking? I am so worried. Please help!

If you have never had any delayed period earlier, you need to be investigated further. If this has happened after initiation of thyroxine supplement, you need to report to your consultant as menstrual irregularities can happen with the medication. You may also need to exclude/confirm pregnancy if you are sexually active, though this is a remote possibility.
You need to be checked for thyroid status any associated hormonal anomaly. Blood profiles, liver function and urinalysis may be done to assist the diagnosis. Further management can be planned based on the evaluation.
Your bleeding may be controlled by using styptics and hormone supplements if needed. Please take iron supplements and good diet. See your consultant for a proper evaluation.
