What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding In A Lactating Woman?
Question: Hi, i am 35 year female. I delivered my baby boy nine months ago. This was normal vaginal delivery. I got my menstrual cycle resumed at 7 month. I had the bleeding for 6 times during this time. After two weeks, i started getting bleeding once in a while, it was kind of spotting almost every day. Now, from past 10 days, i am bleeding continuously, the flow is moderately high. i change my pads thrice a day. I am not getting any pain during this bleeding. But feeling very tired from past two days due to intensive bleeding. Could you suggest me.

Hello mam,
It is not good to bleed heavily and this often especially when you are lactating because you already need a lot of energy.
I would suggest you to get a transvaginal ultrasound done for ovarian size and endometrial thickness.
Most common reason for such a bleeding is usually an ovarian cyst or increased endometrial thickness due to lack of ovulation (which is quite common in post pregnancy period).
Please write back with the results of the test for further evaluation.
Till then take tablet tranexemic acid 500 mg thrice a day for 3 days to stop bleeding after discussing with your treating doctor.
