I am due for my period on this coming Monday, my last period would have been 3 weeks ago on this upcoming Monday. Due to my patch yes I have normal period cycles. No I was not over due for my period when I started bleeding, I am going through a tampon about every hour every hour and a half
Brief Answer:
Get an evaluation if it lasts beyond 5 days.
Detailed Answer:
That is indeed strange.
Once in a while you could be having a heavier than normal period.
It should not last beyond 5 days though.
If that happens, or the flow gets worse beyond what it already is, you should be seeing a Specialist right away.
You would need an internal exam and a pelvic ultrasound scan.
It could be a polyp, a fibroid, thickening of the lining of the uterus ( endometrial hyperplasia ) and least likely - a miscarriage, since you were not even overdue.
Take care.
