What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding?

default
Posted on Tue, 22 Aug 2017
Question: Hi I had the copper coil fitted in April this year, since having the coil I've had really long heavy periods which I understand is normal, but also heavy discharge that varies colour wise from white to yellow to green, and I now have jelly like discharge, is this normal or should I be worried? I have no pain or uncomfort with this. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Do you put on a protective slip to protect your underwear?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I have reviewed this information fully. The increased discharge with yellows/greenish coloration doesn’t make me feel comfortable about the discharge. I will suggest that you provide a vaginal specimen for laboratory analysis to make sure that there is no ongoing infection. If the the bleeding is in excesses, it might become necessary that get it reviewed. We accept increased bleeding but not in huge quantities.

In all, provide a specimen for laboratory review and more so if this discharge needs protective slips to protect the underwear. Excess bleeding also requires a review of the coil by an OBGYN.

I hope this guides and helps. Communicates findings to me for more insights. I wish you well and feel free to follow up with me if need be.
