yes he should, at the earliest..
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern for your son,
No please don't wait for the body to recoup in this scenario , it's only recommended for minor and less severe health concerns..
Blood vomiting or Hematemesis is always a medical emergency and should be handled promptly..
Yes, there's direct correlation between alcohol binge drinking and such vomiting episodes, primarily due to gastric & esophageal mucosal damage and force of vomiting causing further tear in gastric mucosa..
Excessive amount of blood loss not only puts the individual in to hypovolumic state but if not controlled timely, can create severe hemo-dynamic instability and shock..
He needs to be taken to your nearest ER right away, please don't panic, just take him there at the earliest, he'll be requiring intravenous fluid therapy and immediate monitoring of vitals (pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature & respiratory rates), along with few prompt investigations (blood gas analysis, hemogram, electrolytes, liver and kidney function assays, coagulation profile check up, and based on the symptomatology a planned/urgent upper GI endoscopy to look in to the esophago-gastric structures, and management accordingly..
Time is valuable and extremely important now, so please don't delay anymore..
Do let me know how he stays in the due course..
Take Care
Kind Regards
he hasn't thrown up in the last hour and threw up 2x with blood..
he wants to stay home...should we make him go based on above.?
no you shouldn't wait any longer..
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome back,
Thanks for following up with the updates,
The pain over stomach region is due to internal stress and part of the underlying gastro-esophageal mucosal erosion and damage only..
However, you shouldn't wait any longer, simply because the complications are too severe in this scenario, doesn't matter if he feels momentarily alright also, you should take him to the ER at the earliest..
You should insist and take him to the ER at the earliest for further evaluation and if still he's reluctant to go, please call up 911 as a part of emergency medical response, they'll take care of this..
It's good that he's feeling momentarily better, but a thorough evaluation is needed for a quick recovery and avoid future complications (he's just 25, having his whole life and carrier ahead), please make him understand this..
Wish him the best of health
Take Care
Kind Regards
