Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
Seems that you are in a relatively difficult situation, taking care alone for your husband without a direct medical support.
This complex situation is naturally associated with a lot of stress and anxiety, leading to abnormally high blood pressure values and tachycardia.
Besides above issues, your recent urinary tract infection and large amount of fluids you have taken may have potentiated the adverse factors over blood pressure control.
Coming to this point, I would recommend you to keep monitoring closely your BP values.
If after a couple of days the average BP value is above 140/90 mmHg, then I would recommend you to start an antihypertensive therapy..
A thiazide (for example HCTZ 25 mg/morning daily) or a calcium channel blocker (like Amlodipin 10 mg/day) would be an acceptable therapeutical option, almost safe.
If after a couple of days, no steady hypertension has resulted, but just some separated bouts of high BP values, then treatment of triggering factors is advisable (especially anxiety).
I recommend to find the opportunity and check some lab tests before starting any treatment (complete blood count, thyroid hormone levels, liver and renal function tests, blood electrolytes, fasting blood glucose).
Hope to have been helpful to you!
Feel free to ask me whenever you need! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
