What Causes High BP And High Heart Rate With Nausea?
Possible causes explained
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for posting the concern in HCM.
As I see that you have undergone required tests to find out any abnormality related to the cardiovascular system and no abnormality was detected, I think you haven't been suffering from a heart problem.
However, the symptoms you mentioned may occur due to anxiety too. An anxiety disorder or a panic attack may present with increased heart rate, palpitations, raised BP, particularly when you are a known hypertensive. From your medications history, I found that you are known hypertensive on Amlodipine and hence a rise in BP may occur along with other symptoms of anxiety like tachycardia, palpitation etc.
Often some medicines precipitate similar symptoms. But in your case, I don't think that to be the reason because none of the two medications usually precipitate similar symptoms.
For, further cross check I would like to know whether you have the following tests normal -
Ecg
24hr holter monitoring
stress test
If that is normal, I think you should consult a psychiatrist for further evaluation of generalised anxiety disorder or a panic attack. A history of sleep deprivation is also important in this regard because it is commonly associated with the anxiety problems. These functional problems are common among post menopausal women particularly.
For the time being, I would suggest you to have relaxation session for 30 min. at bedtime and maintain sleep hygiene.
You should also have the following tests done to rule out any metabolic and endocrinology related cause-
Fasting TSH, HbA1c, Serum prolactin, Serum Calcium, Vitamin D level, sodium, potassium.
