Brief Answer:
Have regular follow up with your surgeon.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

I want to clear you the point that, recent information about the wear of certain metal-on-metal devices has raised concerns about their use. Metal surfaces give off small particles of debris.

As you have mentioned that you have very high counts you may suffer from pain or swelling around the hip, osteolysis, and very rarely symptoms in other parts of the body.

In some patients elevated blood metal ion concentrations are associated with early failure of MoM devices secondary to adverse reactions to metal debris, so have regular follow up with your surgeon after every 5-6 months.

Atlast I want to say that if you develop new or significantly worsening symptoms or problems with your hip, including pain, swelling, numbness and/or a change in ability to walk, go to ER or contact your operating surgeon immediately.

I hope you have got your answer.

Thanks.

Dr.Singh.
