History Of Hip Replacement. Have Back And Groin Stiffness. Reason?
I had total hip replacement five years ago and have recently have noticed some minor discomfort now in the non operated hip . My attention was on the non operated hip when suddenly a few days ago I now notice a stiffness in the back hip area of the operated side which is now moving to the groin area as well. Deja vie unfortunately. Could this be the result of problems stemming from the non operated hip? For five years I had no problems at all with the operated hip,
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. As it has been more than 5 years after your primary THR sugery , the pain and stiffness around the groin area could be attributed to some problem in the prosthetic joint. The possibilities are * wear and tear in the polyethylene * instability of the joint * Osteolysis * ? infection in the joint
Also there might be degeneration in the non operated hip.
I suggest you to consult an arthroplasty surgeon for a detailed evaluation of the cause for painful hip after THR.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
