What Causes High Pulse Pressure In A Patient With Aortic Stenosis?

Question: My blood pressure is over 100 points apart. this morning it was 192/75. My differentials are starting to widen over the traditional 40-50 point spread. I also have atrial valve stenosis and wonder if that is a symptom
Brief Answer:
not likely
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
aortic regurgitation (which is another kind of valvular disease) increases the differential pressure and such a reading would be feasible. Aortic stenosis is not supposed to cause such a high differential value. Actually aortic stenosis may decrease the difference between systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Another cause of a high pulse pressure is the increased rigidity of blood vessels, which occurs with increasing age and atherosclerosis.
