What Causes Hip Pain After Sitting For A While?
I have an issue with my right hip that comes and goes. Sometimes after I've been sitting, I will try to stand up and I'm unable to straighten that hip and I can't bear weight on it. I have to give it a couple of minutes of stretching before I can walk, or it feels like the leg will give way. It can be especially inconvenient if I need to chase after a child, and looks funny sometime after I get out a car have to shuffle around for bit. Thanks for any suggestions
Femoroacetabular impingement
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
As I read through the description submitted I could think of few hip conditions that cause similar pain, out of which FAI (femoroacetabular impingment)strikes me first.
It is common hip pain after prolonged sitting and it starts infront of the hip joint and then can progress backwards.
If you try to take an Xray there can be some abnormal bone growths inside the joint. It may not be visible all the time. However it is better to get an MRI to properly visualize the entire joint for such growths. It is said that such growths lead to Osteoarthritis of hip at a later time.
So please consult an Orthopedic surgeon for right management and to rule out other conditions relating to this type of pain. They can be muscle or ligament strain that attach around the joint causing such pain.
I believe I justified your symptom well.
