Brief Answer:
Origin of pain needs to be confirmed whether.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I have studied your case.

After clinical examination origin of pain needs to be confirmed whether swelling or hip joint.

Based upon the description of your symptoms, it could be either a LIPOMA (fat deposit) or an ORGANISED HEMATOMA (encapsulated blood clot).

I suggest you to consult an Orthopaedic surgeon. For a detailed examination, workup and further management depending upon the nature of the swelling.

Till time take analgesic and cartilage protecting medication like glucosamine sulphate.
For hip arthritis joint flexion, extension and rotation exercises will help.
Physiotherapist will help you better to learn more exercises in proper protocol.

Pain on movement can be associated with arthritis. Lack of movement will aggravate pain so you need to do range of motion exercises for hip. Pain on hip movement will reduce after joint replacement.
Diet rich in calcium and protein will help.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Is it usual to have a lump with Trocanter bursitis? It is a "mass" is how the orthopaedic surgen said, on inital excam. He did a pelivic MRI. just minor arthuritis. The mass did not show up on MRI with contrast. Was out of view. And here I thought thats whatwe were going for. I take move free twice a day. Aleve every 6 hours. No injury like falling or trauma to site. My Calcium was high so just taking it in multi vit. was taking like 1600 mg everyday. total Hysterectomy 1998. I have been doing some stretching excercizes. Had a EMG , because I have numbness in my left toes. But that was all good. The neurlogist suggested a general surgen to do a biopsy and possible removal of mass.

Brief Answer:
FNAC may help before going for biopsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Yes trochanteric bursitis can lead to lump and which is usually cystic [soft] and painful.
It should have been visualized on MRI.

FNAC [needle aspiration cytology] may help before going for biopsy procedure.
