get done chest x ray and PFT.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I want to ask few questions first.
1. Since how long do you smoke?
2. How many cigarettes you smoke per day?
3. Any other symptoms like chest pain or breathlessness or fever are there or not.
Since you are smoker , thick mucus with blood can be seen in
1. Infection
2. Bronchitis.
So chest x ray is needed to rule out infection.
And PFT (Pulmonary Function Test ) is needed to rule out bronchitis.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss about these.
And reflux can recur after fundoplication surgery. So your sensations in throat can be due to reflux only.
So continue antacids and lifestyle modifications like avoidance of oily, spicy and hot food.
And you should quit smoking as soon as possible. This habit will only harm you.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done PFT and chest x ray.
Kindly reply me answers of above questions, so that I can guide you accordingly.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
Could be bronchitis, Cancer is less likely
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done PFT and chest x ray.
Possibility of infection or bronchitis (due to smoking) is high. Cancer is less likely as your age is too small. But smokers tend to develop lung cancer at young age.
So chest x ray and other investigations like Ct scan will help in rule out cancer too.
So quit smoking as soon as possible. As it will only harm you.
And your blood in mucus can be due to infection or bronchitis.
Consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.

Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question.
Yes, you are having nasal bleeding only.
Nasal mucosa is very delicate. And can bleed if damage by trauma. And finger pricking is the most common cause for trauma.
So better to avoid finger in nose.
And consult ENT surgeon for local examination of nasal cavity.

it is smoker's cough.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
Early morning thick mucus expectoration in chronic smoker is known as smoker's cough.
It is due to smoke induced irritation and inflammation which causes mucus gland hypertrophy and secretion of thick mucus.
And in my opinion you are having problem in lungs (bronchitis) as mucus can only produced in lungs and coughed out. Which is felt in trachea.
And no need to worry. This is not serious. Since you have left the smoking, you will surely improve with time.
Hope I have solved your query.
