What Causes Hot Flashes, Lightheadedness And Dizziness?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Jul 2015
Question: I have been having symptoms of Hot, sweats and Lightheaded or dizziness for some time. On a few occasions I have fainted. Since November 0f 14 these symptoms have come and gone. I have had several tests from Tilt tables, Heart XXXXXXX EEG, EKG, ultra sounds, MRI, cat scan and am wearing a heart loop monitor. No test has shown anything that can be identified as a cause. I was recently tested for limes disease and that was negative as well. What if anything can these symptoms be related to or by. Thyroid test was good, A1C was normal, Blood pressure good. Need answers badly.

Brief Answer:
can be due to VasoVagal attack.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that your symptoms can be due to VasoVagal attack. It can be precipitated by decreased blood supply to brain leading to the symptoms you experienced. Whenever you feel such symptoms, you should lie down immediately with head end lower than the feet. This will increase blood supply to brain and will relieve the symptoms. Also get your blood pressure monitored. Do not skip meals. Eat healthy foods and drink lots of water daily. Fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables should be added in your diet.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.

When these symptoms arise I can feel them and by walking and focusing my eyes on a single target can most generally stop the symptoms. Could this be visual or eye related ? Most of the dr.'s I've seen say that if these were Vasovagal walking them off would be near impossible.

Brief Answer:
some more information is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for providing more information. Yes, Vasovagal will not recover with walking. Instead it requires complete rest with lower head end.

I would like to know more information like:-
1. Do you have a particular time of the day when these symptoms are at large? In other words at what time of the day, are those symptoms more?
2. Whether your symptoms are aggravated by lying down in a particular posture?
3. How do you generally recover from fainting episodes?
4. Any associated nausea/vomiting? 5. Any feeling of fullness or ringing in ears? 6. Any change in vision?

Your reply to the above queries can help in planning your medical management.

Thanks.

Symptoms come through out the day. No particular time or place. Sometimes sitting down and sometimes standing up. Laying down does not aggravate nor help symptoms. If fainting occurs it only last a few moments and I wake back up and no fullness no ringing of the ears no vomiting or nausea. I have been wearing reading glasses for a while now and sometime these symptoms are accompanied by trouble focusing on a single target.
