What Causes Increase In Prolactin Level While On Telma Ct Forte And Atarax?

Question: I m taking ccm ..telma ct forte..atarax 10 mg..metolar xr 200mg and ocid d from last 3 months..suddenly my prolactin level increases I got milky discharge from breasts and period is also delayed..dr. suggested medicine but I read that it has lots of side effects..I m very sensitive and allergic to so many medicines..I dont want to take medicine to reduce prolactin level due to side effects..is my prolactin level increased due to medicines I m taking? Can I stop taking any of these medicines?

I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.I think I may be able to help you.

I understand the anxiety you may face due to the extraordinary number of slide effect profile that the medicines for prolactin generally have.

Unfortunately, from the medicines that you have said you take, none can be changed. They are basically bp medicines and as such need to be continued.

The only medicine I can suggest changing would be ocid d. This can be changed to pain ocid 20 mg. And in fact I feel that the stopping of the domperidon may actually help you.

I will also suggest MRI brain if not already done.

So If I stop ocid d totally..my prolactin level will go down?..but if I will feel acidity can I take antacids like gelusil or dugene syrup...I m sure this problem is because of medicines only earlier I never faced this kind of problem...also can I you suggest me any medicine as my periods are 10 days overdue..any medicine which I can take safely with my bp medicines. .

Ocid D is a combination of 2 medicines. You can continue Ocid which is an antacid. D is domperidome, which is anti emetic and not really needed.

That should help you.

As for the medicine for menses, I would suggest you to see a Gynecologist, for complete evaluation and prescription of medicines.
