What Causes Increased Blood Pressure Despite Taking Medication?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2015
Question: Hi I work in Dubai and the last couple of days I was working outside, temp about 98. Started feeling sick evening of the first day, took my blood pressure in the evening of the second day, at 8pm it was 153 over 102. I was worried because I don't have ready access to doctors here, so I took another tablet. I am already on 100 mg of Losartan potassium which I take every morning which normally keeps my at 120 over 80. Is this cause to visit the emergency room at the nearest hospital it is midnight right now and my pressure has gone down to 144 over 88 pulse 92.

Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

It is not high enough so you dont need to visit an emergency at the moment. In these days reduce your salt intake reduce fat intake... and regularly check bp twice a day atleast and make a chart of it... and if it consistently stays above 150/90 get a checkup by your doctor may be your need a med change.

After seeing your pulse i as a cardiologist would like to give a similar patient some beta blocker... or a combination like Exforge 5/80 I would like to discuss the matter with your doctor if it comsistently stays high. but at the moment your target it to keep salt low... fat low... and monitor BP writing it down on a paper woth time and date. You can even share 3..4 days chart with me i will guide you further.

I hope this answered your question, a
if you have more please feel free to ask.

Regrads.
