What Causes Increased Bowel Sounds Hours After Eating?

Question: i am 39 years old and since the last of February i have noticed increased bowl sounds mostly some hours after i have eaten or when my stomach is empty. I do not have constant abdominal pain but i have had some but nothing unbarabal. I did have an episode of intense abdominal pain followed by some bright red blood in my stool. This seems to have happened while i was on an herb for male enhancement with herbs that are know to irrate the stomach. I got XXXXXXX formula to try to sooth the lining of my intestinal tract, since i stop taking the herb for male enhancement there has been no more bleeding of any kind. I have been haveing hard stools even before all of this. So i have been taking fiber along with XXXXXXX formula to help. So the incresed intestinal sounds and mild stomach cramps that seem to be more frequent have got me concerned any idea what might be going on? I also had a colonoscopy in 2010 because of some bledding and upset stomach which reveled nothing but the cramping and intestinal sound was not there at the time.

Hi,
I have gone through your medical history and feel sorry for the situation you are in.
Let me understand your health situation better:
you are mentioning to be suffering of increased bowel sounds hours after eating or when your stomach is empty. May I know if such problems started before or after taking male enhancement formula? May I also know the ingredients of such formula?
Next, you are also mentioning to be taking XXXXXXX formula and fiber. Did the cramps and bowel sounds improved or worsened after starting such supplements?
All these additional data would help me assist you better!
Thank you!

I have to say the increased bowel sounds started after the male enhancement formula, so did the cramping, but the cramping was very mild at first, more like a flutter or lite pulling feeling. The ingredients in the first male enhancement formula, that i took for a little while but stopped because i felt it was hurting my stomach, are 600mg horny goat weed, 250mg maca extract. The second male enhancement formula i took longer before i stopped, included 15mg anemmarrhena, 10mg circaligo orchiodes, 50mg epimadium grandiflorim morr, 25mg muria puama extract, 200mg raw orchic, 10mg zinc citrate, 50mg tribulus terrestris, 50mg coleus forskolli, 50mg avena sativa, 50mg nettle root extract, 24%-6% 40mg ginkgo biloba, and 50mg beta sitosterol. I stopped taking the first one after a week, i stopped taking the second one about 2 weeks after i started taking it. After the XXXXXXX formula and fiber the cramps and bowel sounds worsened. The cramps only intensified a little more than a lite pulling feeling but are more frequent and so are the bowel sounds.

Hi back,
Thank you for sending in the requested data.
From what you are describing, your stomach and bowls function has been altered since you used such male formula. You are experiencing the side effects of this supplement.
It will take some time until your GI (gastro-intestinal) function will be back to normal again.
You are saying to be taking fiber supplement too. Sometimes, fiber supplements use is associated with increased bowel gas and cramps. So, I'd advise to stop taking fiber supplements too and to:
- drink more water
- have light meals (soups, curd, low fat yogurt, etc.). Avoid oily, beans or other gas-forming foods/drinks (e.g.carbonated/energetic drinks).
- take OTC probiotics
- ask for simethicone drug at your local pharmacy. That could help decrease gas in your bowls
- take ranitidine 1 tablet at night for 2 weeks
After 1 week of starting such regimen, you can come back to me and give me your feedback! I'll try my best to guide you through the process!
Wish fast recovery!
