Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic.

I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns now.

Is this abdominal pain contineous? A slight abdominal pain now and then in the first 3-4 weeks of surgery is normal. But if the pain is worsening or you have fever, vaginal discharge then it is suggestive of infection. In this case you need to see your doctor immediately. While passing wind there is a bit of stretch in the lower abdomen and this causes worsening of pain. This pain should ease off by 2 weeks time.

With constipation there is stretch and pressure on the stitch area and this is making you exhausted. If you can add plenty of salads and fruits in your diet it will help relieve constipation. If you cannot eat them take then take Normocol Plus granules 5-10 ml once daily. If it doesn't help take twice daily.
Drink plenty of water.
In two weeks time the wound is almost healed and you can stop Normocol and start with high fiber diet to avoid constipation.

I hope this helps. if you have further concerns, I will be happy o answer

Hello Dr Ramadevi Wani.

Thank you for your answer. The pain is intermitten, once in a while, 3-4 times a day. Most of the time its bearable, I can stand it. I only had one discharge so far, yesterday. I have no fever. My daughter said I looked kind of pale today. Yes I m eating plenty of raw salads and fruits.

My stool is dark colored. Dark grey, dark green, sometimes. Is that normal?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
It seems to be just postoperative pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back.
From what you have written it seems to be just postoperative pain.
You should be free of pain within 2 weeks time.
Whenever you want to pick something from the ground sit down and pick it. Don't climb stairs for another week. These activities can cause pain.

The stool colour is okay.
By the way are you taking any iron tablets. That can cause constipation. If you are taking iron tablets, stop them for few days and see.

I hope this helps.
If you have any further concerns, do write to me.

Thanks. I am glad its just post-operative pain. I do pick something from the ground once or twice this week. Yes I have been climbing stairs one or two times per day.
And yes, I have been taking iron tablets for the last one week..my Hb level was a 9 before the operation.

Hi,
Welcome back.

If your HB is 9 gms, you need to take iron. Some iron preparations cause constipation. So stop the iron you are taking. If this is the cause for your constipation, you should be relieved of constipation in 2-3 days. In this situation you can discuss with your doctor and take another iron preparation.

I suggest that in addition to iron suppliments you take iron rich food like red meat, liver, beans, chick peas, green leafy vegetables

With best wishes,
Dr Rama
