What Causes Intermittent Dizziness And Disorientation?

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Nov 2016
Question: I've had dizziness on and off for a couple of years. More of a disorientation feeling, like there's a CD player in my brain and it's scratched and skips. It started out as a fleeting issue lasting an hour or so and only occurring once every several months. As times passed I've started having the attacks almost weekly and they now last for days. I have started having trouble formulating words now and concentrating on anything during these times. Two weeks ago I went to get out of bed and ran straight into the wall. After catching myself on several things I finally made my way back to the bed. Thank goodness my husband was home because as I sat on the edge of the bed my body literally pitched forward, I couldn't stop regardless of pushing back with my hands. My husband grabbed me and pulled me backwards. I've taken care of family during Vertigo Attacks but it wasn't like this. Finally I decided I needed to go to the ER but as I was trying to get dressed I lost control of my bladder. Embarrassed and frustrated I decided to just lay back down and take care of it later. I didn't have any ringing in my ears, no headache, the only "dizziness" was when I tried to walk, as if my body wouldn't cooperate. After 4 hours it went away and I haven't seen a doctor yet. Unfortunately my PCP has a tendency to blow off everything, including the dizziness claiming inner ear issues...which was obviously just a guess. I do have an enlarged Liver, a Reticulocyte count of 175,000 absolute reticulocyte count of 3.2 slightly elevated WBC (11-12) and RBC (5.5)
