Question: hi...I'm a 68 year old woman. about 3 weeks ago, I had a low grade fever on and off for about a week ,along with debilitating pain all over my body.....muscles and joints. the worst of the pain and fever left, however I am still experiencing the pain, not just quite as bad, but still quite a bit. Dr. did lyme test and autoimmune blood tests that showed nothing and said if was a virus it could take time for symptoms to leave me.....I'm still waiting and have never experienced anything like it.........

Brief Answer:
It will subside in few weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.

If you have just recovered from a viral fever such as respiratory viruses you might have a persistent ache in your joints called as arthropathy. Aches and pains after viral fevers are common and they usually go away at their own in about 6 weeks time. You can take aspirin or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) can be taken to alleviate pain and swelling during the time it takes for the infection to go away. Viral infections usually do not cause joint damage. Don't worry it will go in few weeks.

Take care.
