Question : i get prickly feeling on and off on either side of my throat which brings tears to one eye and/or a runny nose
the past few weeks i have been getting a hoarse throat and constantly having to clear my throat , especially at the end of the day , every day ---itching sensation in the throat
i also feel the need to spit and sometimes excess saliva forms in my mouth
i also note a slight ache on my left jaw

I have read your query and understand your concern.
After reading your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having allergic rhinitis with postnasal discharge (PND) in throat . PND causes hoarseness , itching - pricking sensation & constant need to clear throat .
If I were your treating doctor , I would advice
Saline nasal rinse thrice daily ,
Salt water gargle twice daily ,
Tab Tylenol for pain with inflammation &
over-the-counter anti allergic like Tab Claritin at night .
You will get relief .

are these also the symptoms of GERD and would your diagnosis change for a smoker or alcohol drinker
