What Causes Irregular Heart Beats When Suffering From Mitral-valve Prolapse?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Dec 2014
Question: Hello I am a 57 year old male in excellent health. My stress test a few months back was "glorious" and the administering Doctor said I was in superb shape. I have mitral-valve prolapse and I've noticed my heart rate beating irregularly, especially when I work out. 4 or 5 slow beats then 7 or 8 very fast beats, or something to that effect. I want to say it's been going on well before the stress test but can't say for sure. I do drink coffee in the morning and my workouts are typically late morning. Would the stress test have noticed this? Is this something I should be concerned about? Thank you. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have mitral valve prolapse. Your stress test was perfectly fine. Mitral valve prolapse generally does not leads to arrhythmia or irregular heartbeats. It can cause murmer. You should not worry about that. If you have any symptoms then you need examination otherwise don't worry. Just be relaxed.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
