Brief Answer:
Recovering dengue - nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX ..This reddish palms and soles which your daughter is experiencing and the intense itching are signs of recovering dengue. NS1 antigen positivity confirms dengue infection . But this type of rash which occurs int he glove and stocking area is called glove and stocking pattern of rash and along with itching is a definite sign of recovery.

Even if it is dengue, 85% of the times it is self limiting and the main treatment is over fluid therapy - either orally or by intravenous route. But as your daughter is already on the recovery path, you should not worry and no need for intravenous fluids. Give her plenty of water and make sure that she urinates good quantity of urine at-least 6 hours once.

If you can get back to me with her current weight, I will be glad to suggest you a medication for the intense inching. The reddish color of palms and soles will disappear on its own.

I wish your daughter a speedy recovery. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome.

Brief Answer:
No need to go to doctor immediately

Detailed Answer:
Hi...You can give her Syrup Xyzal (Levocetrizine) 2.5mg/5ml strength, 5ml one a day. Her sleepiness is because she might have had a disturbed sleep due to itching.

If her urine output is adequate you need not go to the doctor as an emergency.

You can give her plenty of oral fluids and Levocetrizine as I suggested and if still you feel she is not better by evening, you can approach your pediatrician.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
