Detailed Answer:
Hi
Namasthe
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Mr XXXXXXX

I understand your concern and apprehensions. If the itching is not preceded by any rash or lesion of the skin its likely to be due to hormonal causes.

Even my wife faced similar problems during pregnancy, and she responded to suggestions given by me.

Following are the causes of itching during pregnancy

1. Excessive Oestrogen
2. Deficiency of Essential fatty acids
3. Stretching of skin and generalized vasodilatation: Vasodilatation is dialatation of blood vessels- this increased skin blood flow causes excessive histamine release and promotes itching
4. Vitamine deficiency, especially Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)

I would suggest you the following which will definitely help

1. Apply moisturiser with an aloe vera or calamine base. Aloe vera is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and nourishes and protects the skin. Calamine lotion can also be effective.

2. Use a soap or shower gel that doesn't dry your skin. Dry skin is often itchy. Skin is slightly acidic in nature and using an alkaline soap might dry your skin out. Most soaps are alkaline, some are pH neutral and even fewer have the same acidity as your skin. Try a pH neutral soap or an acidic soap to see if it helps you.

3. Massage your body with coconut oil or olive oil before a bath. Add content of Evion capsule(vitamin E ) into the oil. Avoid using a body brush or loofah until your skin stops itching.

4. Boil a few neem leaves in a cup of water and add this mixture to your bath water. Some women feel that this soothes the itchiness.
5. Wear loose cotton clothing that allows your skin to breathe especially during the hot summer months.

6. Heat rash or prickly heat can also cause itching. Try not to avoid going out in the heat of the day if you can. Dermicool powder application is very helpful.

7. Eat a diet rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene and zinc and drink adequate water to keep your skin soft and hydrated. Vitamin supplements containing Pyridoxine will be helpful.

8. Use a soft clean cloth to gently rub over the itchy areas. Don't use your nails as you may draw blood and infect your skin.

9. Sometimes, residual detergent in clothes can make you itchy by drying out your skin. Choose a mild detergent and rinse your clothes thoroughly.

10. Essential fatty acid supplement: Morelife(brand name) Omega 3 fatty acid= 1 capsule once a day will be helpful

Whenever she has sensation of intense itching apply coconut oil over it followed by application of Calamine lotion. Once the vicious cycle of itching is broken , there will be improvement in symptoms.

I am quite sure she should improve. Remember to keep the area of itching clean and dry. Any sweating or heat exposure will provoke itching.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take Care
