Question: My 4 yr old son is complaining of an itchy penis (inside) and it hurts. He is uncircumcised. His urine has a strong odor and I am having a hard time with him not wanting to go potty when he needs to. He finished a 10 day round of amoxicillin about 3 days ago

Brief Answer:
Itch

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
It is very common in uncircumcised boys to have itch or pain at the head of the penis, often under the foreskin. This typically happens because the area under the foreskin is not completely clean. It can cause pain while urinating, as well.
The foreskin needs to be retracted as far back as possible without causing pain. The area has to be cleaned, plain water is fine. You can apply an over -the-counter antibiotic ointment for a few days to prevent skin infection. But a course of oral antibiotic is usually not needed.
