What Causes Lack Of Speech Development In A Child?

Question: My granddaughter is 5 yrs old, doesn't talk other than saying no, and has a ridge running down the middle of her nose. I have had a couple of parents of special needs children say they have seen children like my granddaughter in the geneticist's office. They couldn't remember what those other children have. We have an appt at Riley's in Indianapolis in a few months, but I would like an idea of what it could be so I can do research and get an idea of what we are facing. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give us. Thank you

Hi

I would have liked to know about other milestone as well. Are they too delayed or normal as per age? Since her speech is not developed she needs to be evaluated for
.hearing test ( BERA )
.opthalmic evaluation
.thyroid status
.vit b12 status
.sos MRI
Simultaneously she needs to be started on speech therapy. If all come negative then developmental pediatrician opinion for autism needs to be sought. Ridge over nose could be due to mild dimorphism.
