What Causes Left-sided Back Pain?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Feb 2017
Question: Hi...
Since last Sunday I have been having a great deal of pain on my left, back, Illiac crest (?) ( I had to look up the area) It hurts to put on my shoe and pants on the left side. I didn't injure it as far as I can recall. The pain came on rather suddenly. I've taken some ibuprofen, but that doesn't seem to help. I'm also experiencing pain on the lower part of my leg, left, towards the front. Would you suggest seeing an ortho person?

Brief Answer:
Yes, should consult further with orthopedist or rheumatologist

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I am sorry for the painful situation you are going through.

The pain you are describing seems to be due to osteoarthrosis of vertebral spine lower back area and pelvic joint.

You should run some blood tests (e.g
CRP, complete blood count, calcium/but D levels,) and run X-ray of pelvis.

But first consultation with either orthopedist or rheumatologist is required.

Hope this helps.
