What Causes Leg Pain In Children At Night?
Question: hello doc... My 7 year old daughter in the middle of the night screamed in pain regarding the area of her left leg from the knee down to the ankle. My wife is her teacher and says she was complaining about it throughout the day. She had this before and we took her to get tested and everything was good. Now it seems like the pain has come back. How do I know if this is just growing pains?
Brief Answer:
Do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but do not worry. Many a times vitamin D deficiency, hypocalcaemic tetany or musculoskeletal pains can be confused with growing pains. So, I would recommend you to get her tested for:
- 25(OH) D3 to rule out vitamin D deficiency
- S. Calcium, phosphorus, Alkaline Phosphatase
- CBC and ESR
You may upload the reports for my reference so that I can help you with the most definitive treatment. Also, upload the previous reports and medication prescription which she had taken.
Take care
