What Causes Light-headedness, Dizziness And Balance Issues While On Diet?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jun 2016
Question: I'm over 65 years old. For the last 30 days have been on a vegan diet of fruits, vegetables, nuts, no dairy except almond milk. Awakened yesterday with light-headedness, dizzy, unsteady on my feet. I take 4 prescription drugs; 2 for blood pressure, a statin for cholesterol and metoprolol for heart rythmn. Haven't had these symptoms before. Any idea what it could be? The diet? I've felt good before yesterday.

Brief Answer:
Get Neurology consult.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Such symptoms in a person suffering from pre existing hypertension can point towards either a fluctuation in blood pressure or could be stroke.
I would hereby recommend you to get a neurology consultation and let your doctor check your blood pressure and may order a CT or MRI brain for the same.
This could be serious so should not be ignored.
See your doctor now.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
