What Causes Lightheadedness And Chest Pain?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 May 2017
Question: I woke up lightheaded which is actually normal for me, but with chest pain. My chest felt heavy. It felt like it was either my heart or lungs. I have a history of blood clots in my lungs. I took ibuprofen, which helped with the tightness for a little, but now it's back and it hurts when I exhale. Should i go to the emergency room?

It hurts when I move my arms as well. Almost like a sore back would hurt, just it's in my chest

Brief Answer:
Keep monitoring the pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic,

I can understand your concern and I am sorry for your situation,

According to the history, you've provided, that you have a previous history of blood clot disease if you were my patient I would recommend you to monitor carefully your situation.

If the pain gets worse with the passing of time you should go to ER department for further follow-up.

They will evaluate the actual heart and lungs condition of yours along with some investigations:
ECG
Troponin CK-MB
D-Dimer
Chest X-Ray
ABG

Treatment depends upon the results accordingly.

In my experience, I don't think this might be a serious situation but we have to be careful and it's always better to monitor such situation carefully.

Please take care and feel free to ask me again

You can take pepcids

Hi again

Peptic pain is not so related with breathing cycle an exhalation in specific.

You can take pepcids and to see the pain how it affects .

I don't think you should try anything else

If the pain is the same go and do that tests i explained to you above

thank you for your answers. I was on a blood thinner, cumadine, then lost health insurance and stopped. I was on it for 3 to 6 months. That was 8 years ago. Haven't had any issues. If I haven't had any issues does that mean I am out of the woods? Or could it come back any time in the future? What should I do?

Brief Answer:
if you feel better nothing else to do

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I hope you are doing better now with the pain.

If the pain is better with pepcids than this situation is not related to a blood clot condition.

If not than you should do that tests i have mentioned you previously to exclude any cause of blood clot

Regards

Dr.Jolanda
