What Causes Limping While Walking With History Of Hip Replacement Surgery?

Question: In 2012 i had hip replacement surgery. The scar is on the outside of my upper thigh, Surgery went well was doing great. mostly did alot of walking for exercise. I don't do any other physical activity other than walking. About three months ago, people starting noticing that I was limping when I walk. I never noticed it because I didnt' have any pain. I went to a physical therapist and they said my muscles are weak and that is causing my hip to slant downard. They are working with me now as I just started a week and a half ago to do therapy to build strength. Another test I cannot not do is put all my weight on
the new hip as it gives me pain now and is not straight. I think they call this Tratenburgh syndrom. THe therapists think this if fixable with therapy. What is your opinion? I only did alot of walking after 6 weeks of rehab and didn't think I was having any problem. ALso, is it typical now that after I pratice trying to stand on one foot that it is painful at first. I am 60 years old.

Brief Answer:
I would like to see x ray of your hip joint.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that your hip pain and limp can be due to following causes.
1.Weak hip Muscles specially abductors.
2.Wrong position of implant
3. Poor bone quality
To confirm the diagnosis I would like to see x ray of your hip joint. This will tell us if there is problem with hip implant or bone. You can send me those images.
If there is weak muscles than you need physiotherapy. If there is weak bone than Calcium and Vitamin D 3 regularly.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
