The cream that you have been using contains superpotent topical steroid i.e clobetasol propionate 0.05% in a cream for.
This strong topical steroid should never be used on face. It is too strong for face. You have been using this cream for 8 long years!
I am sure you were not using this cream on a dermatologists advice.

Superpotent topical steroids like clobetasol propionate 0.05% can cause various side effects like acne, skin thinning and telangiectasis, flushing, photosensitivity, persistent redness, dryness, itching, increased facial hair Or hirsutism in females etc.
Redness, flushing and acne due to steroid abuse are collectively known as steroid induced rosacea Or steroid abuse rosacea.

These side effects of steroid abuse are seen in patients who use a potent topical steroid for more than the required duration Or for long periods of time on face.

You should immediately stop using this cream any more.

Once you stop using this cream you may notice facial flushing, dryness, itching, burning sensation, acne for a period of time. This is expected.

Your skin would be sensitive and would turn red easily on sun exposure. Therefore I suggest you to use a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day.
Neutrogena ultrasheer dry touch sunblock with spf 50 is available OTC and you may try this.
Reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours, specially if outdoors.

At night you may use a topical preparation containing either metronidazole 1% gel Or pimecrolimus 1% cream.
These topical preparations are antiinflammatory and would help reduce redness, flushing. They have a beneficial role in steroid induced rosacea.

I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your vicinity for a clinical examination and for the needful.

The steroid cream that you have been using on your face is responsible for the side effects that you currently notice, therefore, the first and foremost thing would be to stop using this cream any further.

I suggest you to use a sunscreen, through out the day. e.g Neutrogena Ultrasheer Dry Touch Sunscreen. Reapply every 2-3 hours.

At night you may use a metronidazole 1% gel (Metrogyl gel) all over your face at night. Metroidazole gel is antiinflammatory and woud be beneficial in this condition.

In addition I would also suggest Oral Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for a few weeks for skin eruptions.
Kindly note that this tablet should be avoided if you are pregnant.

Use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion, twice daily. Avoid soaps.

These are prescription medications and therefore I suggest that you see a dermatologist in your vicinity for a review of your skin condition and the needful.

Your skin will take some time to recover.
Your skin would be sensitive for some time and would have burning, itching sensation.
You may also notice a few acneform eruptions on face.
Don't use anything else on your face apart from theses medications. Let your skin recover with these medications.

These are prescription products and are not available over the counter.
I suggest you to use them only under supervision of a dermatologist in your vicinity.
