Brief Answer:
Go for oral examination

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,

I have gone through your query; and suggest you that before taking any medicine you may go for thorough ENT examination and some tests to reach the near diagnosis such as
1. Examination of tongue to check any infection and inflammation.
2. Gustatory event potential.
3. Blood sugar test.
4. Thyroid function test.
5. Brain imaging if needed.

Wish you good health
