Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal. I have read your message. I think I can help you.
The fact remains that TOTAL COUNT can increase as well as decrease in any infection including viral infection depending on the stage and severity of the disease.
Raised neutrophil count is also a marker of infection. And may be raised in acute stages of viral infection. later in the disease lymphocytes will predominate.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

So how do u calculate reference ranges for white cell differential?

What are the percent of each of the 5 white blood cells

If the percent of 1 white cell differential is high ie....will it lower the other wbc differential

Brief Answer:
specific

Detailed Answer:
usually every lab will give a report that has the normal range noted.
This may vary somewhat from lab to lab.
you may see your report to see the normal range specified to your testing lab.
The same goes for the differential range,
And yes, if the percentage of one of the differentials increases, that of another cell or all of the cells will decrease, the total remains 100- its a percentage system.
I hope that helps.
