What Causes Low Blood Pressure At Night?
Question: Hello, I need a second opinion in regards to an issue I am having. I have anxiety and depression and panic disorder and everymorining I wake up it feels like ive been held underwater all night. I also usually wakeup once or twice a night and feel dizzy and so tired. last night I woke up very tired and my bp was 100/47 this concerned me and after about being awake for twenty minutes bp returned to 114/70/ my normal bp during the day is usually between 110-135/ 69-84. When I lay in bed at night about an hour before bed my bp rangers from 104-114/ 58-70 my pulse at night is usually between 58-70 during the day between 72-100 when I walk my pulse ranges between 96-145 depending on how hot it is outside and how fast im moving. Ive had holter monitor, eck brain mric and XXXXXXX and chest ct. calcium ct score all normal. complete wbc with differential completely normal. I take Zoloft 150mg once a day and buspar five mg once a day for about a month.

You have absolutely normal blood pressure and pulse data. Our organism regulates blood pressure and heart rate with circadian rhythm. Normally it is lower at night and higher during the day, and even higher in physical activity. At night our organism rests and doesn't need much energy, so both blood pressure and heart rate go down, heart rate can be as slow as 40-45 bpm abd blood pressure can be lower than 90/60, that's normal. And it is vice versa during the day.
So there is no need to take blood pressure and pulse so frequently as the data are perfectly normal.

Thank you I was just concerned about that 47 on the bottom especially because I felt dizzy and tired but during the day my BP is always normal so that 47 is normal for sleep? I had a sleep study and it was normal

im also noticeing when I start to get tired at night my bp can drop to 100-110/ 50-54 when I start to get drowsy is this cause for concern? im only concerned because I have been taught that anything lower than 40 can kill you and I wounder how low am I going in my sleep. I also get a bad dry mouth in the night and when I wake up and I always wake up feeling tired and unrefreshed. I have anxiety and depression and panic disorder, but I wounder if low night time blood pressure could be causing this>?

Thank you last night I woke up four hours into sleep and had horriable pain in the back of my head while I was sleeping bp machine showed bp was 100-110/60-66 which was a good thing. but I just felt like it was hard to talk and I felt a horriable pain in the back of my head while breathing. ive had this once before but it went away once I went back to sleep and I woke up without a headache, could this be related? also im noticing when I lay down my pulse is in the 60-80 range but when I stand up it can jump to as high as 130 and it usually stays at105-115 if im standing or moving. should I be concerned about these issues?

If your pain was worse with breathing then most probably it is a muscle pain or spine related pain, try to have a correct posture and perform exercises for the spine and neck for 6 months.
And it is normal to have heart rate variations with movements.

In young people especially when the level of anxiety is higher than avarage heart rate variability is more than a older people with low anxiety levels, it is not considered abnormal. With movements and with exercise pulse can go up to 160-180 bpm in young people, and it is individual, it reaches to high numbers slowly during sternous exercise in trained people with low anxiety levels and it reaches rapidly and in light exercise in non trained persons and/or with higher anxiety levels. So my advise will be the same, stop measuring you blood pressure and heart rate, there was no abnormality until now and it is very unlikely that you will have any heart related problem in the near future.
