What Causes Low Cd4/ Cd8 Ratio?
Retesting of CD4 and CD8, kindly attach HIV report
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I understand your concern. I am Dr Arun Tank, infectious diseases specialist answering your query.
- Normal CD 4 count is 500 to 1200 and CD 8 count is 150 to 1000 cells/mm³, normal CD 4/8 ratio is 1 to 2.
- Your ratio and CD4 count is less but HIV test is Non Reactive after 4 month.
- This condition won't make you HIV positive. It is necessary to retest for CD4 & 8 ratio. Some times normal variation in CD 4 and 8 is the reason for the variation in the ratio. I advice you to retest after a month.
- Kindly provide me the test report of HIV to help you more.
I will be happy to answer your future query.
Kindly come up with query.
Thank you,
Dr Arun Tank,

No HIV, Retesting for CD4/8 is required..
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
- You had undergone CD4/8 testing on second consecutive day. You at least have to give a period of 15 to 20 days for retesting.
- As you had taken fourth generation ELISA testing after four month, if the result confirms negative, there is nothing to worry about HIV.
Kindly come up for further clarification.
Thank you,
Dr. Arun Tank
