Posted on Thu, 29 May 2014
Question: My wife had mild fever early morning along with severing on 20th April. She took a Paracetamol for the same. On Sunday 19th April, she again got fever with body ache. On Monday we showed to doctor, report followed. In report Typhoid H 1:40 was identified , so the doctor gave a curse of medicine for 1.5 week. That all done and now she is having weakness. Date before yesterday again she had mild fever. Yesterday we got report repeated, Typhoid H is 1:40 and O is 1:80.

Do this bacteria last for some time in body. What precaution to be taken.

Brief Answer:
Insignificant titres....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Widal test is considered significant when the titres are above 1:140 or when there is sequential rise in the titre numbers. The fact that two titres taken over a period of 2 weeks is same, it ruled out typhoid infection (or) the infection was cured.

You mentioned she received a course of medicines. What medications was given.

The weakness and low grade fever may be sequelae of earlier infection or a fresh infection. Please provide details of her previous medications and other co-existing symptoms (if any).

Awaiting your response...

Regards
