Posted on Tue, 7 Mar 2017
Question: I had a c section over 10 years ago. I have had pain where the stitches are ever since. I assume endometriosis but have only ever heard scar tissue. The problem is I have a lower abdominal pain and swelling. Its so tender to the touch and when I sneeze or cough. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Can be fibrosis or endometriosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The constant pain and swelling even after 10 years of C-section at the site of scar can be due to fibrosis in the area or endometriosis. The persistent pain needs proper evaluation after an ultrasound scan and if necessary an MRI scan to find out the cause. Taking pain medicines on as and when needed basis will not help in the long term. Do consult your gynecologist for an examination and necessary investigations.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
