Brief Answer:
Diverticulitis can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Pain in this location is usually caused by sigmoid colon diverticulitis. Its a kind of inflammation present in the pouches of the large intestine. You may have some blood in stool, slight fever with this condition.
Bowel movement is what may help with the pain, but wont cure the condition.
As diverticulitis can cause bowel perforation, I suggest you to do not wait with it. Blood work and abdominal CT should be done as soon as possible. Antibiotics are necessary.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
